Owner: Dan
model: 89 white package (now painted pearl white), 7mgte

a little story on the Project. Dan is a local guy in Tucson who bought the car about a year ago. The wasn't driven much since the oil return line ruptured and the sudden loss of oil caused a loud ticking in the head and what feels/sounds like to me a very subtle knock in the block. he finally raised enough money to do the 1jz swap. he went in to PSI to price the complete swap archie stated he had quite a bit of work at the moment and wouldn't want to have him waiting on the swap. he directed him to me for the swap. he called me up we came to an agreement and now the fun begins.

[Fs In Colorado] '91 Turbo & '85 P-Type

Seller: James Noyes
Location: Denver, Colorado
What: '91 Supra Turbo & 1985 Celica Supra P-type
Asking Price: '91T $1000 ; '85P $500

One of the OG guys in Colorado has given up on both of his Supras and has decided to let them go. James Noyes has run out of finances & patience to continue on with them. Here's his e-mail from the SOGI E-mail list...

Quote

It's become obvious to me as my two Supras have sat unusable for a
while that neither I nor anyone I know has the time, money, or
initiative to give them the TLC that they need. I'm sick of insuring
toys I can't use, so I hope they can find a home better suited to them
here on the list. I will NOT be listing these on any of the forums,
but they may find their way to Craigslist soon. As mentioned in the
subject, these are in the Denver, Colorado Metro area.

I will answer questions/offers *only* here at this email address,
suprastuff "at" retrogeeks.com - pictures will be available soon, I hope.

91 Turbo Targa 5-spd - first $1000 takes it
Silver Grey Metallic on Shadow Grey interior
About 140K on both the motor and chassis. Chassis is sound, but has
been stored outdoors now for a while.
Originally began life as an automatic, converted to a 5spd by me.

Buyer will get some neat bonuses:
- CST leather interior (driver's seat does need a rip repaired)
- HKS downpipe
- RT free-flow Cat
- Upgraded turbo
- Practically new tires on all four corners (maybe 1000 miles on them)
- Fluidyne radiator
(currently not installed, has a small leak and needs to be patched)

Buyer will need to address the following issues:
- Driver's window will roll down, but not back up.
It's not the switch, I know that much for sure.
- Has a top-end tick/clatter, probably somewhere in the valve train,
or maybe where the Cam Sensor fits. Motor starts quiet, but as it
warms up, the tick gets noticeable, then loud. It's NOT a bottom-end
tick. Since the HG is original and has never leaked, I wasn't keen on
opening the motor. Valve lash has already been adjusted/re-shimmed.
- Cruise control won't engage
Clutch switch just needs to be spliced in properly, a leftover
from the AT conversion.

- AND -

85 P-type - first $500 takes it
Super red on Black/Grey interior
225K. Motor has always started and run like a champ, even with this
many miles on it. Has also been stored outdoors for a while recently,
and the body is - well - not spectacular.

Also has four tires on it with very little use just like the 91.
ALSO has a top-end tick (lucky me, huh?). Came on very suddenly, and
I'm almost positive it's nothing more than a stuck lifter. The car has
a handful of other little nit-picky issues, but nothing catastrophic.

- SO -

Unfortunately, our local emission-testing geniuses REFUSE to allow
either of these cars to be tested since they "make noise" so they're no
longer plated and streetable. I've run out of time, patience and
resources, and they're now for sale where-is, as-is, for someone who
HAS more time and patience than I do.

So, do you have the time and the initiative? Want to keep them from
being donated for scrap? Come get 'em.

Cheers,
James Noyes

1988 Soarer Project

ok i guess i got a car thats been around the block a few times lol but its still going to be a fun build

i got this toy about 2mo ago no motor/trans, mis match wheels, hit in the rear,no taillights or rear bumper, someone tried to pull the dents out of 1/4s out by drill holes into them and useing a slide hammer (i think not sure what they where really doing) but im a paint and body guy so no big deal.

1st thing was to take to a buddy of mine who owns a frame rack and pull the car out right. (not to bad, it needed be pulled on the driver side rear alittle bit but now its good to go). i had a rebult 7mgte that was going to swap into a ae86 but sold the shell and held on to the motor/trans that i will be droping in untill i can save some money for a 1jz ($1000 child support is killing me lol) its cheeper to keep her ! started to look at the wiring and found the the dash harness had been cut up and was missing plugs so i pulled the dash out and called a buddy from Japan Motor Imports to see if he could help a friend out and get me the dash harness and two weeks later ups pulls up HELLL YA . so i installed my new harness and now all my dash lights up, p-windows, sunroof, p-locks, p-seats, ect work but no head lights. so i check the bulbs but found the harness had been cut on both sides. so i had to fix that problem its good to go now. (got lights).

parts on order .
taillights

parts im still looking for
rear bumper
trunk lid
factory wing

wish list for 2012
1jz swap
and to have it running and driving by may 2012

just want to say Thanks to SUPRAGUY in Tucson for helping me out on a few parts and my buddy from JMI

Parts Is Parts

So I was cleaning out the garage a bit yesterday and found a few old spare parts. Let me know if you need anything.

A head. Yep. Didn't even remember having a head. Pretty sure I have all the buckets and a full set of shims. I don't think I have cams. Not sure what's wrong with the thing, but it's clean. I think I might have had it machined a bit low or maybe it had some scratched up journals. Who knows. You want it, it's yours, prob worth a few bucks in scrap at the very least. And if you want a bucket or a shim, guess what, you get it all!!!! Yay!!!

Found a 7M distributor (NA) wired for a 5M ECU. Don't ask. Easy to rewire.

7M NA coil/ignitor. Pretty sure they still work. I think they are 7M. If they are 5M, well, too bad.

Various 7M front plates. I think I have a front and rear upper timing cover. Maybe a lower rear. I think.

I'm sure there are more little bits here and there, but if something on the list strikes your fancy, let me know and maybe we can poke around for more.
