Heya guys, thought I'd take some time to introduce myself. My name's Erick, and I found this site on recommendation from a few buddies of mine as we were talking about swaps. I see a few faces that I recognize here form the AZ240sx boards as well, lol. I own a zenki S14 (well, two atm). My first had a very clean SR20det swap done, and I was happy with it. Spun a rod, rebuilt it at Fueled, and with a little misappropriation of school loans I had come to own another. My idea is that I wanted to move on to something bigger, better. I didn't want to get into another SR really (not that I hated it, mind you) and tossed the ideas around of the LSx swap, the 1jz, the 2jz, etc. Yeah, I thought about the RB25 as wll for about a day or so, but that is a cash trap most folks stray away from these days, lol. Not to mention parts pretty much shoring up now. I like the LS swap idea as well, but I have a love affair with boosted cars, what can I say. I know, you can turbo and LS, but that's another story for someone else to say lol. Suffice it to say, then, that I love boosted JDM engines.

So, to give credit where credit is due, I am profoundly impressed with what the 2jz has accomplished, and yes, I want to bastardize my S14 with one. Not sure what the climate around here is for 240's with 2jz's in them to be honest, but I take it as a compliment, as I had to look towards another engine altogether to satisfy my build requirements and goals, lol.

Been talking to Carlos on and off (check you pm's bro! ^^), and the day I was coming down to meet him, I had my old S14 stolen. It was actually the "funds" car that was going to give me the scratch to do the swap and upgrades. Car was eventually found, but as you can guess, it was stripped and beaten to shit. Insurance totaled it, gave me a check worth way less that what I dumped into it, and sent me on my way. So, I was back at square one. I moved some things around, made some plans, had some help, and am now about to be in the position again to get this show on the road. I will for sure keep you guys updated on the build, I love this shit.

Anyways, this is what the donor for the 2jz looks like (saved the euo glass headllights from the stolen car though ^^, not on there in these pics, but they will later on)

Here's what she looks like recently. Painting the engine bay black. Yeah, both my S14's are the same Ruby Pearl color ^^ Getting my navan kit painted this week as well.

Anyways, glad to be aboard, and I will apologize at first, because I know there will be tons of questions asked on my behalf in the future.

Really clean car will be a nice donor for the 2j swap. I know you will have fun with the swap, I did.

Right on, thanks man. I find myself spinning my wheels, doing lots of touch up on the bay (maybe too much?) while I wait for this to come together. Can't get it off my mind lol. I guess that's how it goes though...

I saw you live up in Prescott Valley...my folks live in Chino. Every time I go up there, there are always pockets of nice jdm rides up there, usually Scoobies, but I've seen some other stuff up there too. It's a nice scenic drive up there in the first place, good for a group haul ^^

Welcome to the forums, I always appreciate a clean 240, Although if it where me Id go RB26 but if your worried about costs or finding parts then a 1JZ/2JZ is right up your alley. I'm currently trying to finish an RB26 swapped Z31, its been a real PITA :).

Thanks Clint...yeah I have a few buddies who are running RB's (one has a sick RB20 with ITB's), and for a very long time I was wanting to stay "maker dedicated" and go RB25. But with downtime and costs, I had changed my mind, especially after the tsunami, Raw Brokerage is even having a hard time keeping stock. Not sure how that's all gonna pan out. RB26 though, that's like my Unicorn lol. Maybe when I get my BA and a promotion lol. But until then, power/reliability/availability of parts on the 2jz suits me just fine ^^

I'd like to check that project out sometime, sounds like a PITA but also fun. You always hear people talking about doing an RB26 swap, but never actually SEE anything, lol.

As far as I know this is the only Z31 in the united states that has an RB26 in it, you always find lots of talk but no action taken...

Yeah, i was gonna say never heard of the swap into a Z31 ^^ Sounds like it's gonna be alot of custom fabrication going on too...

But I was talking about that certain "fan boi" type, every time JDM is brought up you hear "I'm swapping a RB26" or "my buddy has an RB26" but for all these accounts of RB2's that are supposed to be out there, you never see them lol.

Yeah, we have the motor mounted, had a custom oil pan and pickup made, custom motor mounts, we where able to utilize the turbo Z31 transmission by swapping the bell housing section of the R32 transmission to the Z31 T5 Tranny. I am actually trying to convince Carlos to take it over and finish it for us, but he is so strapped for time lately.

Carlos, it was good to finally have met you today, and to see all those cool rides you got going on at the shop. You've laid aside any doubts I had (if I had any) for sure, and will definitely be going 2jz now! Can't wait to see what that 260z is gonna look like ^^

Now, I need to get on this guy to actually pay me first, lol.
