Hello my name is josh and i just got my supra about a month ago.
After a long ass wait i finally traded my 69 karmann ghia for a 1988 toyota supra from these crazy redneck guys with no front teeth and lived on a ally way......probably wasent a good idea, so i hoped on the freeway after the trade...went about 112mph then blew a coolent hose and overheated 7mge and of course it blew the headgasket. After about a grand of money and a week of work we finally got it running good. The only issue i have with it now is that the engine has 160,000 miles on it and it needs a rebuild and the oil pan gasket and the front main seal are blown. Wondering if anyone had any comments on what would be cheaper, rebuilding this 7mge or going to a 7mgte? right now its an auto and i hate it! i want a 5-speed so badddd :( here are some pics it looks nasty right now, needs a waxing...

Hello Josh, welcome. I have a buddy who is selling a 7mgte with no trans. Motor came out of a running 89 supra that was crashed. Turbo was rebuilt 2 months ago according to the previous owner. I believe my buddy has the paper work to prove it. His number is 520-440-4607, name is Carlin. His asking $500 but he's moving in less than 2 weeks just throw him an offer he'll probably take it. The motor has one week since it was pulled out.

okay.......what the hell it took me this long to get back on to this topic.
Brandon. I cut that hard pipe where we thought it would fit........and it didn't fit and i think i need a 45* silicone hose. So i went back to my stock turbo inlet and put on your air filter.
As far as this 88 na supra is going, it is being built right now, she is still in pieces.
And im going to the pav's tonight anyone else going?

It honestly sucks so badly and now my exhaust leak has gotten like twice the size. Does anyone know anything about helocoiling(f...idk how to spell) the exhaust manifold bolts on the head, WHILE IN CAR cause if i pull this head off i have to replace the brand new cometic mls and the arp bolts :( and i also want to find a downpipe back exhaust system anyone know of any they want to sell?

why would you?...i know of quite a few people that have reused them and it worked fine.

also talk with albert he made a fixture to drill and tap them back in the day, dont know if he still has it but if you talk to him about making you one and you pay $$ for his time im sure you could work something out. you will just need a stubby drill bit so you dont hit the shock tower and might need to use a 90 degree air drill (be careful with using them, they are NOT variable speed)

I keep telling him that you can reuse the MLS hg and head bolts. My headbolts have been used 3 times and as long as the gasket isn't damaged u can reuse. And I'm pretty sure we have and air drill at turbos house like that
